Happy Halloween, Adventurers! The leaves are changing, the air is getting crisp, and a legion of otherworldly horrors is warping the very fabric of reality itself. Yes, it's business as usual in the treacherous world of 'Eldritch Visions', the first-ever expansion for Firelight: The Questing Card Game.

Below is a copy of our blog post formally announcing 'Eldritch Visions'. You'll find details on Quests, Adventurers, artwork and more, but please note that with release of 'Eldritch Visions' still almost a year out, we are waiting on finalizing our expansion's rules until after the general public has had time to play and comment on the core game.

ANNOUNCING FIRELIGHT: ELDRITCH VISIONS

Get ready, Adventurers - Danger looms on the horizon in Firelight: Eldritch Visions, and only you can save the world of Firelight from imminent destruction.  

Artist Natalie Riess (Snarlbear, Space Battle Lunchtime, The Adventure Zine) brings to life a brand new world of creatures, gods, and nightmares in the thrilling first expansion for Firelight: The Questing Card Game.  

ELDRITCH VISIONS  

The Gates of Dur'Licht have opened, enveloping the world of Firelight in unending nightmare. Take control of new heroes to brave a series of all-new, creepy-crawly Quests. Save the world of Firelight, or just save yourselves. The choice is yours!

Launches September, 2018 for backers.  

Wide release October, 2018.  

NEW STORIES  

The 'Eldritch Visions' expansion thrusts players into an action-packed story of discovery and survival. After an accidental discovery deep beneath the surface of the globe, the citizens of Firelight are forced into battle with an otherworldly army of reality-warping horrors.  

Outnumbered and unprepared, they will have to stand together if they hope to stand at all.  

'Eldritch Visions' will cast players as multiple Adventurers in stories that take place all across the world of Firelight, telling both the ground-level and high-level stories of the invasion from multiple perspectives.  

NEW ADVENTURERS  

'Eldritch Visions' introduces players to new Adventurers like the Tinkerer, the Necromancer, and the Beastmaster.  

Each comes with brand-new Abilities, mechanics, and artwork that will expand the way you play the game.

They're heeere... The final Firelight proofs, that is! Final proofs are in the process of being delivered as we speak, meaning the last major step before printing is nearing completion. We also have some nifty new card backs, which really tie together the game's look. Check out a few examples below, and let us know what you think!

 Eldritch Visions Announcements Incoming

To anyone who has been wondering about Firelight's first expansion, Eldritch Visions - The first details are coming soon! While the proofs and card backs have been getting designed, we've also been hard at work crafting content for the expansion. We're partnering with a new artist to provide brand-new Adventurers, Quests, and much, much more. Everyone on our end is incredibly excited for what's been brewing, and the hope is to be able to reveal the first images in time for Halloween, so stay tuned!

While we continue getting together the card files for printing, I just wanted to share a new Backers-only survey that was designed to help us provide you with better games, expansions and campaigns in the future. This brief 5-10 minute questionnaire will help us make Eldritch Visions, along with any future expansions or games we may create, something that our whole community can really get excited about.

Final Art Update + Printing Prep!

Happy weekend everyone! Last week I noted that final art should be completed for Firelight within the week. I'm happy to say that the final art pieces have been delivered, and we are beginning final preparations to send Firelight off for printing!

I'll discuss more about the printing process below, but first, take a sneak peek at two more of Firelight's 20 Quests.

The Black Sheep, by Jose Ochoa

In this Quest, Adventurers are hired to track down Elise, a troubled girl who has fallen in with a gang of revolutionaries. Her brother, worried that Elise may do something she regrets, has put you on her trail. Adventurers will search for clues in a rough-and-tumble bar and an old shanty town before making their way towards a final confrontation with Elise and the revolutionaries in the city capital.

Getting Schooled, by Jose Ochoa

How do you do, fellow kids? In this Quest, Adventurers go undercover in a magic high school, searching for a fallen black mage who is taking refuge among the students. You'll have to make up student identities and collect intel in multiple classes as you hunt the dangerous Voldo. Apprehend or defeat him before he can recover his powers and destroy the entire school. But be careful! There's no talking in class.

BUT WAIT, THERE'S MORE!

More Quests are coming soon! Keep an eye out for announcements regarding Eldritch Visions, Firelight's first expansion pack coming to backers in September 2018. It's still available for pre-order at our BackerKit store, so don't wait to get your copy! And don't forget, backers will receive the expansion a full month before the general public!

Printing Process

Now that we have final artwork for all 20 Quests and all 8 Adventurers, we're simply packaging everything up to be received by our printing partners. That means final testing on our Quests, re-reading over all of our materials, and placing all of our cards in templates to be printed. This process will take a bit of time, but it's necessary to ensure the most polished-looking final product.

The printing itself is estimated to take around 6 weeks, at which point all of the merchandise must be shipped overseas before it can begin being distributed to you lovely backers. Of course, we'll keep you updated each step of the way!

Greetings Adventurers! After several weeks of hard work, it is my pleasure to show off some of our final Quest images. The below images were created by João Bragato, and showcase many sides of Firelight's expansive world. So take a look below and see where you'll be adventuring early next year!

An Artful Heist

In this Quest, players are attempting to stop an art thief as he ransacks a museum. The catch? This museum only displays magical art pieces, and every painting is actually a portal into the world it depicts. Adventurers will have to chase the thief through numerous worlds, recovering stolen artifacts as they go. This setting gives Game Masters a chance to flex their creative and descriptive muscles as they introduce Adventurers to a variety of new worlds and enemies.

The Crystal Wilds

This Quest takes players into uncharted territory, as they accompany a caravan of explorers into an un-mapped section of Firelight's northern provinces. Players will get to create and battle new flora, fauna, and animal life as they traverse a vast mountain range made from pure crystal.

Rated 'Arr'

In this action-packed Quest, Adventurers get to assemble their own pirate crew and head out on the high seas in search of adventure. Players will hunt down an infamous pirate queen, outsmart a dangerous Kraken, and more in this high-seas thrill ride.

 Day of the Dead

Finally, the Day of the Dead Quest gives Adventurers a dangerous task - They must track an undead killer into an entire town of zombies, ghouls, and skeletons. As the killer tries to blend in, Adventurers will need to track them through an uproarious street fair filled with deadly distractions.

 Cool! So What's Next?

Our final artwork has seen a small delay due to the recent storms, but everything is back to normal and on track for completion by the weekend. Around then, we should be sending out a final art update. We also plan to begin packaging up our final card designs at that time, and send them out to begin the printing process around the 25th of September.

After we have our game safely sent off for printing, we will proceed with mass-producing the dice and books for our Add-Ons.
